5 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS. SALTED CARAMEL HOT CHOCOLATE

lse29.jpg

The weather is cold, and the only thing I want to do is eat. In the middle of the afternoon I find myself craving chocolate (not only during the holidays, but all year long honestly). Obviously, cold weather calls for hot chocolate, so I might be a little guilty of having quite a few cups lately. There is something special and rewarding about hot chocolate. I don't know if its because of the endorphins you release when you eat chocolate, or that is warm and you are cold, or the combination of the two, or maybe its because it tastes like heaven, but having hot chocolate is like a hug. So! For day 1 of 5 days of Christmas Special I got creative and made Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate.

Disclaimer: this is not sugar free, btw, and I love it.

This is my treat for the Holidays, so here is the recipe:

1 tbs of unsweetened cocoa powder
1 bar of dark chocolate (I like dark better, but you can use milk chocolate if you prefer)
1/2 tbs of caramel candies, melted
Salt, to taste (I used pink himalayan salt)
1 cup of almond milk (you can switch to any kind of milk or cream you want)
Vanilla

In a saucepan mix the milk, caramel, vanilla and salt together, and whisk over medium-low heat until it boils. Chop the chocolate bar and mix with the cocoa powder. You will need about 5 tbs of the mixture. Once the milk is boiling, pour it over the chocolate and whisk until melted. And there you go! It is fun to add marshmallows and caramel candies for garnish.

It is so good! The perfect holiday treat.
