Notes on Autumn Knits

The city warming up only means one thing, autumn is around the corner. Contrary to other places, summer takes a while to hit San Francisco, and although warmer weather is still around, it gets me excited to notice the changing beauty of the months ahead.

Leaves turning colors, the smell of spice, bundled up in knits, and hot chocolate in every coffee shop makes autumn, undoubtedly, my favorite season of the year.

By living in this city, where is basically sweater weather all year round, you learn your ways to layering and build a good collection of sweaters that goes from thin knits to chunky cardigans. The key in my closet is to stick to neutrals (I love my grays, navys, blacks and off whites), and adding different textures, it all mixes and matches. From wearing with blazers and heels to the office, to jeans and sneakers, knits constitute a huge part of my style and become the main piece when choosing what to wear. Nothing beats a cozy sweater.

When Autumn hits, I like to revisit my sweaters and see which are still working, and which ones served their purpose. I do clear outs every season, mainly because San Francisco apartments have tiny closets, but during Fall/Winter months I am very meticulous because, let’s be real, chunky knits take a lot of space!

A good autumn wardrobe includes a good thinner knit to layer under jackets and blazers, and a chunky sweater that works as a grab-and-go option. I am all about optimizing my space, including my closet, so I like to pick a piece that I know will work in different ways. Big fan of “fewer better things”.

Sharing a few picks from all price ranges, and get excited for fall!

with love,
Esther
