Notes On January
January felt like a catch-all month. Finishing up projects at work, going back to a routine, setting intentions and goals for the year ahead. It was all very go-go-go. Too many things happening at once, was I the only one? With a month that felt like a whole year, the on-going thought in my head was “Go with the flow, one thing at a time”.
Throughout January I felt this insatiable urge to pamper and take care of myself. To find the things that make me feel good, to take deep deep breathes, to smell beautiful scents, to make my spaces beautiful to my eyes.
I find inspiration when I feel at ease in the spaces I am in. I started the season clear-out, turned off the TV, used my phone to the minimum. I even noticed I wasn’t listening to podcasts or music. I needed my brain to calm down of what felt like a never ending to do list, and the constant information overload we get through everywhere these days made everything louder.
And, in those silent MOMENTS, I found melodies.
I noticed I can actually hear birds from my bedroom window early in the morning. I went for walks with no headphones on and heard people talking and the wind brushing through the trees. I would hear my steps (which is rare because we actually don’t ever really pay attention to how we sound when we walk), and I could hear the big boats honing in the bay, one of my favorite sounds.
Life has rhythm. WE JUST HAVE TO LEARN HOW TO DANCE IT.
In this quest, I discovered pieces and products I found myself using on rotation. My heroes for January. These made my days cozy, warm and lovely I must say. From candles to soft sweaters and hand creams, I listed what I loved, and continue to love, in January. So here they are along with some similar options for any that are older or have sold out already.
In my closet
In my vanity
In my gym bag
Around the house
Let’s see what February brings!
