An Ode To June and July
I was for sure in holiday mode these past couple of months, enjoying the sun, the heat and being outside in a way that I hadn’t been in a very long time. Impromptu trips to spend beautiful summer nights with people I love, unbelievable scenery walking around new cities, and delicious food in every corner filled out June and a good part of July.
I soaked it all in, and enjoyed every second of it and more.
Last November was the first time I took a real vacation in over three years. I kept making excuses to stay in, even if I was taking days off. So I promised myself to dedicate a few days for me, doing things I love, exploring new places, trying new food, and being in the present moment each day. It wasn’t until I completely disconnected from work that I realized what time off really meant, and how energizing, relaxing, refreshing and liberating it was.
…and let me tell you, the sun this time around was pure magic.
The heat this summer has been something else (can’t imagine how August is going to get), but the sun was the main character. Spending time outside, letting the sun rays hit my skin, and enjoy its warmth has been transformative in every aspect of my life. I started building new routines for myself that included time outside at least an hour a day, and even got swimwear to do my workouts in the backyard. Wouldn’t hurt to also get a tan in the process right?
It’s exactly what I needed to center myself and get ready for the second half of the year.
These couple of months were full of beautiful prints, textures, colors, fresh scents and flavors, SPF 50 multiple times a day, an obsession with french skincare products, clear blue skies, sandals, dresses, lots of water and thought provoking books. My monthly favorites tend to roll month over month (that’s how you know they are truly favorites). I appreciate simplicity and timeless items, a curated collection of things I will love and continue to use year over year. Here is mine.
