Quick Healthy Snacks for Mindless Afternoons

IMG_0952.jpg

This happens to me all the time. I am at work focused on something and end up eating like crazy anything that is around because I am not paying attention. The result? Eating a bunch of things without thinking about it, obvs, that are not good for me at all. I have to say it is hard to eat mindfully while you are hypnotized by your computer working working working.

Part of eating mindfully is knowing what you are giving to your body.

So here is a breakdown of options we could have when we get tired of bananas.

Peppers: You probably already know that anything that has Vitamin C is my best friend. Well, I am obsessed with peppers. Aside from been a great source of Vitamin C, peppers hold water so helps with hydration and are packed with antioxidants.

Berries: Any kind of berries are ideal to have as a snack in the afternoon. You see, these are packed with fructose, and when we are mindlessly overworking our brains, berries inject a shot of good energy to keep us mentally sharp. Other benefits? Vitamin C obviously!! and a great source of fiber which help our digestive system.

Sugar Free Jello: This is my five years old me here. There is only 10 calories per cup in case you are counting them. The downside is that you aren't actually taking anything out of eating Jello, but it satisfies your craving for sweets in the afternoons. I like to add raspberries as a little surprise, although I know about it, but it makes it fun!

Popcorn: Another personal favorite. The thing is that you have to moderate the amount of it, it's not like you are going to have a whole bag of butter popcorn, or caramel, the idea is have slightly salted popcorn. One cup is enough to fill up the craving.

Nut Mix: Personally, I have to force myself to be moderate with nuts, I tend to over do it and regret it five minutes later. Nuts are a good source of fat, and when eaten properly are the key to success.
